lost in exploration | little rock

an 11-day road trip starting in Indianapolis, visiting 10 cities in five states

day three:

4 | 23 | 2023 (Sunday)

We arrived in Little Rock around 1:30PM and parked near The Root Cafe where we were grabbing lunch. On our short walk to the restaurant, we passed a cute mural on the side of the Esse Purse Museum, which we visited later in the afternoon.

The Root Cafe was busy at the time, but it was a quick process: place the order, receive a number and find a spot. We chose to sit inside with it being cloudy and a bit windy/chilly. And of course, I’m always about breakfast foods at any time of day; thankfully, they serve it until 2PM on Sundays! We tried the biscuit sandwich with sausage and biscuits & gravy with two eggs and bacon. I enjoyed the crumbly biscuit, though it was difficult to eat as a sandwich. Overall, we were happy with our choices!

MURAL EXPLORATION | We weren’t planning on spending too much time in Little Rock, since we had a five hour drive ahead of us to Dallas. But, we did make some time to walk north on Main Street towards downtown to check out some murals. We lucked out with the weather, too, because it decided to start sprinkling later in the afternoon.

By the time we were done with lunch and exploring murals, the donut shops had already closed, which wasn’t surprising being a Sunday afternoon. Instead, we stopped at Loblolly Creamery to grab some delicious ice cream in place of our donuts. It was such a cute, fun little place for kids and adults! We were both really enjoying the ceiling and ice cream cone pendant lights! Tabs tried Fresh Mint Chip - fresh mint steeped in sweet cream with dark chocolate flecks - and I tried the Peanut Butter Fudge - PB ice cream with PB flecks and chocolate fudge. Both were absolutely delicious! It was a great send-off from Little Rock, and we have a long list for whenever we might be back in town. Next up, a five hour drive to Dallas for continued adventures!
