design services faq

| what design services are available?

Finish Selections, Space Planning, Complete Design Packages - please see the descriptions in the main navigation menu under DESIGN SERVICES.

| how much do the services cost?

Finish Selections = $5 per square foot

Space Planning = $1 per square foot

Complete Design = $15 per square foot

| what is the payment process?

All packages require a 50% down-payment to begin the project, and the remaining 50% (including any applicable change orders and accrued mileage) is due at completion.

| what is the typical timeline for a project?

That all really depends on you, your needs, and the scope of the project.

| does JSD accept clients outside of the Indianapolis area?

Absolutely! Due to the pandemic, most of the project will be done virtually. Measurements and photos will need to be collected and provided to JSD by you.

| does JSD order all the furniture and finishes?

No, JSD will provide you with the links and specifications for furniture and finishes, in which you will then have the responsibility of ordering.

| do any of the design services include tearing down walls?

This is an option in the complete design package only. JSD can recommend how to open up a floor plan if desired; however, you will need to consult with an engineer and your contractor for such renovations.

| does JSD have an in-house contractor?

No, you will need to vet and hire your own contractor. JSD will definitely work with them, ensuring they have all of the necessary information for the project.

| how does the process start with JSD?

Click the button below and complete the design form. Please allow 48 hours for a response. Jen will email to schedule a 30-minute consultation with you. During the conversation, she’ll ask questions pertaining to the information you provided in the form, to ensure the general understanding of your needs. If both parties agree to the scope of work, she’ll then provide you with a proposal within (5) business days. After she receives the signed proposal back from you, she will send an invoice for the 50% down-payment via email. Payment can be made by credit card. If you require another form of payment, please let Jen know.

| what is the cost of a hand-painted mural?

$20-$30 per square foot based on complexity/detail of mural

| what is included in the cost?

Design time - (2-3) design options, (2) rounds of edits, correspondence, installation, materials, and insurance

| what is not included in the cost?

Travel expenses, extra revisions, licensing of artwork

| are you accepting commissions for home murals?

Yes, complete the contact form to share your ideas, which will be discussed further. Please note, Jen will wear a mask for the duration of the painting.

| are you accepting commissions for business murals?

Yes, complete the contact form to share your ideas, and we will discuss further. Please note, for safety reasons, all painting will be completed during off hours or whenever there are the fewest number of people in the space. Masks are required for any person present.

| are you accepting commissions for murals outside of the indianapolis area?

This is definitely something that can be discussed - please include this when you inquire.

| do you charge for travel? if so, how much?

Yes, the cost for travel is based on the mileage to/from the location, at the current federal rates. OR the cost of airfare and transportation. Travel expenses be included in the overall price of the mural, on top of the price per square foot.
